White House draws celebrity chefs to garden

November 6, 2009

From the New York TimesWe have to admit, we’ve been pretty impressed with the creativity of the White House press staff of late.  First Lady Michelle Obama is managing to give the city a breath of fresh air even as summer fades and winter fast approaches.

This week’s highlight comes from The New York Times, which gives us exciting insight into an upcoming episode of Iron Chef in which Mrs. Obama will play a pivotal role. No, she won’t be a guest judge, but instead the First Lady will be plugging the White House garden and her personal and professional efforts to help reduce childhood obesity through healthy eating.

For this special episode, White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford will team up with Bobby Flay to compete against a second team formed by Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse.  Challengers on the show will have to choose their special ingredient from the White House garden, but beyond that, producers are keeping mum.

We can’t wait to watch the episode when it airs on Jan. 3.

I totally agree the creativity to see out Food Network is way off the chart for out of the box thinking. I am looking forward to the battle – mainly because of the Iron Chef’s.

    January 3rd is coming soon.
